Both the prestigious crown and title of Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia bequeathed to the candidates of Western Region during the well-attended Coronation Night last October 15, 2010 held at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Just like Ms. Universe favorite Ms. Venus Raj, newly-crowned Bb. Pilipinas Saudi Arabia 2010, Yasmeen Cabanes Ali has a blood stream of Filipino and Indian. Ali is presently a high school student in Jeddah.

This year’s Ginoong Pilipinas Saudi Arabia works as a housekeeping staff at King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital.

Jhonn Paul Rivera, who hails from Floridablanca Pampanga, is a newbie in a male beauty pageant.. He never thought of joining a competition that would undermine his simple private life. But because of the distinct nature of GBBPKSA from other male pageant, he was encouraged by his peers in FAME-Jeddah to try and compete, which he brought home the title.

Aside from the Ginoo title, Rivera reaped all the minor and special awards, namely: Mr. Photogenic, Best in Maranaw Costume, Best in Pop Casual, Best in Safari Attire, and Best in Formal Wear.

Other major winners are : 4th runner up: William Christopher Boyce and Mhabyz Gonzales, 3rd Runner-ups; Huntlee Ragudo and Daphnee Santiago, 2nd Runner-ups : Mark Louie Rojas and Sarah Jane Rejuso; 1st Runner-ups Limuel Malonzo and Sarah Perez.

Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia is not only a pageant of entertainment, beauty, prestige and elegance. What makes the pageant unique is its promotion of rich culture and heritage.

Previous Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia pageants featured various tourism spots like Boracay Island and Bohol province and shimmering costumes and festivals like the Panagbenga (Baguio) and Maskarras (Bacolod).

This year, SE Productions gives tributes to the rich culture of the South, the Islamic City of Marawi and the people of Maranao.

The Maranaos, which means the "people of the lake", lived in isolation far from the sophisticated life of the cities. They settled around the edge of Lake Lanao, located in Marawi, Philippines.

The Maranaos are the largest Moro and cultural minority in the Philippines, numbering more than 840,000 in the late 20th century. They are known for their brasswork, fine mosques, rish raiment, exotic dances, and love for music. Usually artistic, the Maranao lavish elegant pageantry and celebration. Their festivals are rich in vivid hues of red and purple seen on bright banners and intricate silk malongs on both men and women.

Among the Maranao, feudal standings once strictly defined and inclusive are still visible. The leading class is composed of sultans, datus and their closest kin, sometimes referred to as "of royal" in reference to their ancestors who were once the ruling sultans of Lanao. Many of them maintain their high positions because of wealth, land ownership and generally, political positions to which they are now elected or appointed.

Maranaos are known for their mysticism, royalty, and beauty which are evident in their music and dances. Accompanied by the agong and kulintang, Filipino Muslim dance is marked by intricate hand and arm movement along with shimmering costumes

Maranaw art is very distinctive.

The attires worn by Maranaos feature long skirts for the women, frequently woven with metallic threads, and shorter, wrap-around skirts for the men.

The women also frequently have overskirts and scarves draped from the shoulder.
Batik design is also common with this costumes. It shows the mix of Arab, Malaysian and Chinese. Elaborate umbrella makes a nice fashion statement, usually used by a Muslim princess.

The malong is traditionally used as a garment by numerous tribes in the Southern Philippines and the Sulu Archipelago. Its origin is from the ethnical group of Maranao, Maguindanao and T’boli located in Mindanao.

Handwoven malongs are made by the weavers on a backstrap loom. Very rare malong designs and styles can indicate the village in which the malong was made.

Handwoven malongs, which are costly- made of cotton and silk, are likely to be used only at social functions, to display the social and economic status of the wearer.

But a malong in royal colours is worn only by Maranao men and women of royal status.

Six (6) pairs of finalists were selected last September 16, 2010 to represent Jeddah in the most prestigious search for Ginoo and Bb. Pilipinas-KSA 2010 to be held on October 15, 2010 at the Philippine Embassy Riyadh. The 12 Ginoo finalists are Jhonn Paul Rivera, Christopher William Boyce, Huntlee Ragudo, Reynold Silva, Ariel “AJ” Deveza and Zaki Patrico, while the Binibini winners are Sarah Jane Rejuso, Yasmeen Ali, Carla Alvarez, Jayne Claudette Edano, Jacqueline Canoza and Maybelle Gonzales.

“This year’s batch has a good chance for the titles at stake, and hopefully, we could bring home both titles”, Jhun Abris, Chairman of FAME, announced with pride.

The event which was held at La Parilla Restaurant was hosted by Fame’s Vice Chairman Jerry Lagrimas and new talent/officer Jhayz Tan. The pageant’s opening program showcased the contender’s talent in dancing and was applauded by their supporters, mostly friends and relatives of the candidates. Subsequently, they were subjected to personal interviews from the judges and selected individual topic out of the several categories prepared. The next segment was the Casual Wear, from their own choice of clothing. Lastly, the evening wear competition reflected their class and elegance in carrying gowns and barong tagalong created by the designers of their own choice.

August 27, 2010 - Riyadh K.S.A. - After two weeks of training for poise, projection and confidence, the candidates went through a preliminary photoshoots conducted by professional photographers in Riyadh. The pictorial is a prelude to the grand outdoor photo session which will be held next month to be conducted by Cameraderie Club - the official photographer of this year's pageant.

This year’s candidates are mostly OFW’s in their mid 20’s and some have previous experience in joining male pageants in the Philippines. RIYADH: First it was the Masskara Festival, then Panagbenga Flower Festival, and now in October Maranao culture will be featured in this year’s Ginoo & Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia (GBPSA) search.

Rani Basanta, CEO of Special Events Productions (SEP), organizer of the annual search which started in 2004, announced that the screening of aspirants started on July 23 and will again hold its third and final screening on Friday at the Future Generation International School starting at 10 a.m.

“We are inviting Filipino ladies, 14 to 29 years old, to join the initial selection of Binibini candidates to showcase your charm and talent in the most prestigious personality contest among Filipino expatriates and students in the Kingdom,” said Basanta.

Michael Kenneth Din, a towering aspirant at six feet and a native of Nasugbu, Batangas, a province in southern Luzon, was one of the eight male applicants who got selected.

“I only play basketball. I have never joined any personality competition before and it was only due to the prodding of my colleagues that pushed me try it,” said Din.

Aside from Din, who works as shift supervisor in a fast food restaurant, others who showed up in the first screening included a student, a tea boy, a welder, a visual merchandiser and a salesman. Masskara Festival, which began in 1980, is a weeklong festival held each year in Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental province in central Philippines, every third weekend of October, the city’s charter anniversary. Panagbenga, which began in 1995, is a monthlong annual flower festival in Baguio City, summer capital of the Philippines, held in February.

“Since we have featured the Masskara and Panagbenga festivals showcasing northern and central Philippines, it’s about time to parade the richness of the customs and arts of southern Philippines through Maranao culture,” said Ron Jacobe, the man behind the concept of showing the rich and varied cultures of the Philippines through the past pageants staged in 2008 and 2009.

The native Maranao have a fascinating culture that revolves around kulintang music, a specific type of gong music, found among both Muslim and non-Muslim groups of the southern Philippines.

The Grand Coronation night of GBPSA will be held at the Philippine Embassy grounds on Oct. 15. Four pairs from the western, eastern and central regions of Saudi Arabia will compete. Crème 21 is the main sponsor of the event.

Nesreen Kurshid: Bb. Pilipinas Saudi Arabia 2009

Nesreen Khurshid, a 15 year old student from Durat Al Shark Int’l School in Saudi Arabia wears the crown as Binibining Pilipinas-Saudi Arabia 2009 during the search held last October 16, 2009 at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.

Nesreen bested 11 other candidates during the final competition.

Aside from wining the title, Nesreen and her designer, REy Loyola, won the Best in Penagbenga Festival Costume, Rey Loyola.

All Set for the Pageant Tonight!

The Jeddah delegates arrived yesterday and all is set for the Grand Coronation Night tonight at the Philippine Embassy Riyadh K.S.A.

The show will start at 5:00 pm.

Prior to the final event, a preliminary personality interview, which comprises 20%, was held yesterday at Cetro's Residence. All candidates were interviewed individually and were given 3 similar questions.

After the interview, the candidates were able to acquaint themselves and bond together lasted till midnight.

The search will soon be over, but the experiences and fun are the legacies to keep and their friendship has just begun.

Flores withdraws: Atienza replaces

Due to some conflict with her studies and commitments, Angelina Paula Flores withdraws from the Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia pageant.

SE Productions replaces Flores with a new candidate, Danielle J. Atienza, student of Palm Crest International School.

Atienza, a fourteen year-old fron Bulacan, joins the pageant with the support of her parents although this wil be her first time to join a personality search.

Though the internet voting had already started and the poll cannot be modified, the public can still vote for Atienza for the Internet Choice Award. Her poll can be found separately from the previous candidates. But the total points she will earn will be counted and tallied along with the other contestants.

Bohol will be this year's featured tourist destination

The island offers a wide range of attractions from natural fine white sand beaches, great diving sites, scenic natural sights, old houses, ancient churches, historical sites and wonderful ecotourism highlights.

Bohol is an island province of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas region, consisting of Bohol Island and 75 minor surrounding islands. Its capital is Tagbilaran City. With a land area of 4,117.3 square kilometers (1,589.7 sq mi) and a coastline 261 kilometers (162 mi) long, Bohol is the tenth largest island of the Philippines. To the west of Bohol is Cebu, to the northeast is the island of Leyte and to the south, across the Bohol Sea is Mindanao.

The province is a popular tourist destination with its beaches and resorts. The Chocolate Hills, numerous mounds of limestone formation, is the most popular attraction. The island of Panglao, located just southwest of Tagbilaran City, is famous for its diving locations and routinely listed as one of the top ten diving locations in the world. Numerous tourist resorts dot the southern beaches and cater to divers from around the world.

The Philippine Tarsier, considered the second-smallest primate in the world, is indigenous to the island. Tarsiers are small animals with enormous eyes; each eyeball is approximately 16 mm in diameter and is as large as their entire brain. Tarsiers also have very long hind limbs. In fact, their feet have extremely elongated tarsus bones, from which the animals get their name. The head and body range from 10 to 15 cm in length, but the hind limbs are about twice this long (including the feet), and they also have a slender tail from 20 to 25 cm long. Their fingers are also elongated, with the third finger being about the same length as the upper arm. Most of the digits have nails, but the second and third toes of the hind feet bear claws instead, which are used for grooming. Tarsiers have very soft, velvety fur, which is generally buff, beige, or ochre in color.]

The Chocolate Hills are probably Bohol's most famous tourist attraction. They look like giant mole hills, or as some say, women's breasts, and remind us of the hills in a small child's drawing. Most people who first see pictures of this landscape can hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact. However, this idea is quickly abandoned, as the effort would surely surpass the construction of the pyramids in Egypt. The chocolate hills consist of are no less than 1268 hills (some claim this to be the exact number). They are very uniform in shape and mostly between 30 and 50 meters high. They are covered with grass, which, at the end of the dry season, turns chocolate brown. From this color, the hills derive their name. At other times, the hills are green, and the association may be a bit difficult to make.

Penagbenga Festival is this year's GBBPKSA Featured Festival

The Panagbenga Festival is held yearly during the month of February. The celebrations are held for over a month and peak periods are the weekends. The Panagbenga Festival showcases the many floral floats and native dances. The fragrant smells that could be presently teasing olfactory senses are probably less from the now-dried flowers from Valentine's Day than air floating all the way from Baguio City.

Panagbenga is a kankanaey term for "a season of blooming." It is also known as the Baguio Flower Festival, a homage to the beautiful flowers the city is famous for as well as a celebration of Baguio's re-establishment. Since February 1995, it has been held to help Baguio forget the 1990 earthquake that distressed much of the city.

Aside from economic boosts from tourism, the festival also helped the younger generation of indigenous people to rediscover their culture's old traditions. The indigenous people was first wary with government-led tourism because of the threat that they will interfere or change their communities' rituals.

The Panagbenga Festival, formerly as the Baguio Flower Festival, was formed in 1995 as the brainchild of Attorney Damaso Bangaoet Jr. of the John Hay Poro Point Development Corporation (JPDC) and Victor A. Lim of the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA). Entries from the annual Camp John Hay art contest gave its official logo: a spray of sunflowers. The festival was set in February to boost tourism as it was considered as a month of inactivity between the busy days of Christmas season and the Holy Week and the summer season.

Training and Workshop Intensifies

The preparation of each region representatives to the Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia 2009 intensified as their counterpart trainees begin the training and workshop in their own way.

Eugene Untalasco, a known choreographer and fashion consultant in Jeddah oriented the Western Region contestants on body sways, ramp modeling and pivotal steps. Likewise the fundamentals of beauty pageant, including the interview process, was also imparted during the orientation and workshop.

In Riyadh, Toastmasters International held its 2nd session on Speechcraft and director Ron Jacobe provided some tips on the proper posture and ramp modeling.

The most awaited prestigious show in Saudi Arabia unfolds!

The screening for the official candidates of Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia in Central Region was held last August 7, 2009 at the Generosity International School in Sulemanina Riyadh K.S.A.

Rani Basanta, SEP CEO, announced that there were many aspirants flocked to the screening place from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. However, the result of the official candidates will be and be released this week after the deliberation of the screening committee. Only six pairs will be selected in Riyadh and 3 pairs each will be selected from Jeddah and Al-Khobar.

Candidates cast their votes for Mr. & Ms. Congeniality

GBBPSA Candidates have finally made their first part of the competition during the Pre-Pageant Night held last Friday, 17th October 2008, at the RANCO Compound in Riyadh.

The Casual Wear Competition, 20% of the total score, was held in advance to showcase the fashion collections of TRENDZ, the official distributor of Penshoppe and Freego wear in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Casual wear was given to the candidates free by TRENDZ.

Likewise the Personality Interview, which comprises 20% of the total score, was also held during the pre-pageant night.

The results will be announced during the Coronation Night on October 24, 2008 at the Liwasang Bonifacio Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.

The Pre-pageant was attended by various sponsors from TRENDZ, Jeanswest, Crème 21, Toya Noodles, Marami Potato Chips and the Honorable Antonio P. Villamor, Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

A Busy Week-end all over the Kingdom

TOASTMASTERS MEET THE CONTESTANTS

PICPA Toastmasters in Riyadh, headed by its President, Mr. Eric Tapales, conducted One-on-One Speech Tutorial Session to all Riyadh contestants after the rehearsals last Friday in preparation for the personality interview to be held during the Pre-Pageant Night on October 17, 2008. The Personality Interview shall comprise 20% of the total scores.

BEAUTY TREATS

Binibinis and Ginoos in Riyadh were treated to a free facial, massage, haircuts and footspa at Le Eve Medica Spa sponosred by Evelyn Lugo.

TRENDZ Fitting

All contestants from different regions rushed to Trendz outlets in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al-Khobar for the fitting of casual wear to be showcased during the Pre-Pageant on October 17, 2008 in an American Compound.

With only few days remaining before the pageant night, SE Jeddah still managed to hold a fashion photoshoots at the Sheraton Hotel ground after the rehearsals last Friday. The Desert Fox Shooters photography club in Jeddah conducted the said special session.

After the photoshoots, the candidates graced the opening of the UMEA Basketball Tournament and adjudged the Best Muse and Uniform.

The day-long activities, though tiring and restricted, has brought the candidates some fun, fame and bonding with each other.

STAGE ELEMENTS

Meanwhile in Riyadh, while others were attending the rehearsals and fittings, some SEPIans assigned in the production committee were tasked to prepare the stage elements. Joel Cosindad, GBBPSA’s STAGE ELEMENT Concept Designer supervise the making of a huge mask for the “Masskara” Festival segment.

G63 moves again…

SEP danced group named “G63 Movers” (formerly Beat Static) is back, now with girls added to the group!

With its new South African choreographer, Mr. Clinton Shalkoof, and new members, G63M will give an added attraction to the Coronation Night as they tried to reinvent themselves with the new moves and steps learned from Mr. Clinton.

SEP JC Manuel (a former Ginoo winner) takes supervision of its former members Neil Tenorio, Noel Manguera and the neophytes – Rojie Hipolito, James Campiones, Melissa Ann Aleta, Jennifer dela Cruz, Gizelle Ann Melendrez and Ysa Orin.

Boracay..A Paradise Getaway!

Holidays Activities

SE Productions took advantage of the one-week long EID Holiday , which ends today, for the practices and other activities in preparation for the event.

Jeddah - With only two weeks before the Coronation Night, SE Jeddah Vice Chairman Jerry Lagrimas conducted the first rehearsal of the Jeddah contestants.

Lagrimas, who was in Riyadh during the holidays, managed to teach the choreography to the Jeddah contestants, which he learned during the rehearsals in Riyadh last week.

Riyadh – A fashion photography pictorials by El-Cirkulos photography group was held after the rehearsals last Friday. These fashion shoots will be displayed in El-Cirkulos booth during the pageant night.

Al-Khobar – Organizers of GBBPSA meet in Al-Khobar to discuss issues concerning the pageant. SE Jeddah’s Jhun Abris and Fred Garces and Al-Khobar’s Edwin Mercado raised several issues to Director Ron Jacobe last September 30. The meeting was the first to happen where all regions are represented.

GPPPSA Candidates from Eastern Region listen as Director Ron Jacobe explains the concept of choreography.

GBBPSA Director, Ron Jacobe, traveled to Eastern Province (EP) to meet the six pairs of contestants who will compete in Riyadh for the prestigious Search for Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia 2008.

Although it was time for Ramadan Eid Holiday, Edwin Mercado, EP Organizer, was able to arrange the practice/meeting at the International Philippine School in Al-Khobar.

Masskara Festival: a Tribute to Happiness

Ever heard of a weeklong festivity that gives local and foreign visitors the chance of a lifetime to drink and be merry? Nothing beats the Masskara Festival of Bacolod City. Call it a combination of the Mardi Gras and the Oktoberfest where you will find a huge parade and a lot of drinking. The Masskara Festival is a hip escape from the insanity of the world into colorful days of outrageous partying.

The term Masskara is created from two words: mass, meaning crowd, and the Spanish word cara, for face; thus the double meaning for "mask" and "many faces". It was coined by Ely Santiago, a painter, cartoonist, and cultural artist, who devoted show in his art works the many faces of Negrenses overwhelmed with various crises.

Masskara festival was first conceived in 1980 to add color and gaiety to the Bcolod City's celebration of its Charter Day anniversary, on 19 October. The symbol of the festival - a smiling mask - was adopted by the organizers to dramatize the Negrenses happy spirit, despite periodic economic downturns in the sugar industry. It was intended as an encouragement to all to fight back and to keep smiling despite the sugar problems, and highlighted that hope still existed. Since then, the smiling masks have become the city's symbol, thus earning its tag as the "City of Smile." The festival instills among the people the culture of escapism and obscurantism, where they have to accept and forget their sufferings caused by the exploitation and oppression of the landlords.

Masks are the order of the day at the Masskara parade, as brightly-costumed men and women dance and prance in the streets. Their beaming faces are be-dimpled, grinning and laughing in molded clay or papier-mache.

This annual festival, which has become one of Philippines best known tourist attraction, has been earning raves both from local and foreign tourists. Masskara Festival has also been judged the most beautiful and colorful festival among the various contingents from other countries. This year, the one week long celebration in Bacolod start on October 11 until October 19.

The celebration of Masskara Festival continues at the Liwasang Bonifacio, Philippine Embassy Riyadh KSA on October 24, 2008 wherein SE Productions, will feature the said festival as the opening segment during the Coronation Night of Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia 2008.

FORMER FINALIST OF "STAR IN A MILLION" TO PERFORM DURING THE CORONATION NIGHT

Veejay Aragon, is a former Ang TV Cebu talent who was a wild card addition to the Champions League of 12 of ABS-CBN’s Search for a Star in a Million.

But even before Veejay got into the league, nobody thought he would seriously audition for Search for the Star in a Million. Although he’s already had a year of television exposure and training in acting in Ang TV Cebu, he was never confident of his singing. He’s always been known more as a dancer, having been an active member of the San Diego Dance Company in Cebu where he mastered different styles in dancing—far from the singing image he now so avidly wants to pursue. Girls just can’t help but go wild whenever he starts to do his moves and tease them with his stance and energy.

Born in the laid back and serene city of Juana Osmena Cebu city, Veejay is a late bloomer in singing. His interest in singing started when he passed the audition in a theater production way back in high school. Though it was just a 3-minute role, his vocal gusto had been awakened. He’s never been confident with his singing, without any formal voice training and with the trauma of subjective and often unkind criticism from family and friends. “Nag-iingay ka lang kapag kumakanta ka,” was a comment he never forgot. He used the emotional trauma to add emotion to his dancing and singing. It was in his 4th year of highschool that he seriously decided to prove all those that didn’t believe in him wrong and pursue what he’s always enjoyed.

His eagerness in joining singing competitions was the same intensity in how he’d study his every dance move when he’d perform. But losing at times made him doubt his chosen craft. As many would say “Baka naman di ka pang kantahan, mas bagay ka sa sayaw.” Applying the principles of dancing to singing, Veejay practiced and practiced until he mastered his piece. Soon enough, he was defying naysayers left and right, turning the “Nyeee’s” to “Ahhh’s”.

Search for the Star in a Million made Veejay’s dream of becoming a singer into reality.

He would like to be identified not just for his melodious voice but also for his versatility and upbeat style in singing which is mostly a fusion of pop and alternative, being a bit of a rocker himself.

In Sept. 2006, Veejay was included in the cast of Footloose musical along with Jay-R, Myx VJ Iya Villania, Jonard Yanzon and Gian Magdangal of vocal group 17:28, ABS-CBN talents Nikki Valdez, Maoui David, Search for the Star in A Million co- Finalist Daniel Cabrera, MTV VJ Hunt finalist Marvin Luna, Caissa Borromeo, Monica Reynoso, Kyla Rivera, Dara David, Pom Docena, Johann dela Fuente, Andrei Pamintuan, Felix Rivera, Sen Nichols, Kenjie Villacorte, and JC Gotinga.

Presently, he is working in Riyadh.

National Day is Pictorial Day for Central Region

September 23 is a National Day in Saudi Arabia, but for fourteen (14) official candidates from Central Region for the Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas Saudi Arabia 2008, it is a special day when they met face-to-face the nine (9) "El-Circulo" photographers who will help the public decide the Mr. & Miss Photogenic Award thru internet voting.

The photo sessions started at 11:00 a.m. and they had a chance to shoot the contestants individually, lasted until 6:00 p.m.

Last week, The Desert Fox Shooters held their photo sessions with the Eastern and Western Province contestants and with the Central Region's finally completing the photoshoots of their contestants, hopefully the internet voting will start within next week.

In Riyadh, after their scheduled training and rehearsals, the Filipino Artists Photography Circle, or simply El Cirkulo, made their pictorial tryout to some of the Central Regions contestants last Friday.

At first, some contestants were too shy to face the camera, but later on, they started to show their best shots and it was easy for the photographers capturing their different expressions after they have seen some of the astonishing and convincing shots.

Simultaneously in Jeddah, the 6 official candidates for the Ginoo at Binibining Pilipinas endured the yet so far most exhilarating but most exciting moments of their life during the 8-hour photo shoot organized by SEP-Jeddah and Desert Fox Shooters-Jeddah held at Chairman Jhun Abris residence.

The 3 Binibining Jeddah and 3 Ginoong, stroked their best pose for photographers June Adonis, Jun Amancio, Edison Madrideo, Edner Robles and Wayne Cruz, all members of Desert Fox Shooters.

The photo session was also well supported by the candidate’s parents as well as SE Productions new make-up artist, Mr. Dani Vergel.

An overnight stay by the Eastern Province’s contestants and photographers in a private resort paved way for adept brainstorming and more profound ideas regarding the Black and Gold concepts of this year’s GBBPSA’s photo sessions.

As early as 5:30 pm last Thursday, Edwin Mercado, bunched up the photographers and the contestants then proceed to their location shooting. Equipped with tripods, studio lights and cameras, the “Desert Fox Shooters- Eastern Province” photographers were able to haul out from the contestants the best in fashion photoshoots.

Thursday night seemed never to end from the continuous and simultaneous flashing of light bulbs which lasted until 5:30 AM.

With less than 2 hours rest after the pictorials, the next activity has to start. Despite of the exhausting yet enjoyable pictorials, the candidates had to undergo the workshop that focused on the following topics: a) The Winning Walk b) Poise, Grace and Mannerism c) Pivots and Running Techniques d) Stage Presence and e) Mental Preparation and Confidence Building.

It was indeed a fun-filled weekend for all the official candidates from the Eastern Region and their enthusiasm in performing their best was felt by the photographers, parents and organizers, like burning flame.

The photo shoot for all regions was held to determine the Ginoo at Bb Pilipinas, special award - Miss and Mr. Photogenic which will be selected via Internet voting to be posted at the official blog of Ginoo and Binibining Pilipinas 2008 by September 28, 2008 (before the Ramadan holidays)

There will also be a "Photographer's Choice Award" in each region, to be chosen by the photographers in every region.

Developing confidence is not an easy task, nor is it without reward.

Mr. Ron Jacobe, the seasoned director of GBBPSA, along with some SE Officers, started the workshop of the candidates in the Central Region last Friday, September 12, 2008.

The candidates were privileged to get some tips on how to increase their confidence and make bolder actions especially during conversations and interviews from the Toastmaster’s Middle East grand champion.

In Central Region, men of different professions dominate the official contestants of the Ginoong Pilipinas Saudi Arabia 2008. A sales supervisor, visual artist, HR payroll specialist and a tea boy are among the potential winner of Ginoo title this year.

Since 2004, all Ginoo winners were from the Central Region. This year, six (6) Riyadh male candidates will try to keep the coveted title since they have good chances of winning the title for the 5th time.

Meanwhile, the six (6) Binibini hopefuls, mostly had experiences in beauty contests, desire to win the Binibini title which was unsuccessfully achieved by the Central Region for the last two consecutive years. A former Mutya ng Pilipinas aspirant, a beauty title holder in school, a nurse and a product model are among the possible contenders for the Binibini title.
